Cassie
Cassie is an incredibly beautiful but shy girl in the sixth form at Medenham school. As she doesn't flirt and play up like the 'cool' kids she's seen as a bit of a looser (at my school it wouldn't matter how you acted if you looked like that you'd be cool). During the first series we find out that she is decended for the McBain family who were local witches. Her mother, who's in a mental institution, knew this and delibrately sent her there on the orders of Azazeal. Azazeal (see below) has stalked her family for generations trying to have a son with one of the witches.
Azazeal
Azazeal is the leader of the Nephalim, the fallen angels that were cast from heaven for falling in love with mortal women - this doesn't seem to be a failing Azazeal has gotten over! In the show so far we know he has 'had relations' with: Cassie, Cassie's mum, the fairy, Jo and kissed numerous girls in the sex club in the first season. despite being evil Azazeal has many human qualities - he genuinely seemed to care for cassie and their son and cried a lot whenever things went wrong (however he is so gorgeous, even when crying that we'll forgive him that)
Thelma
Thelma is Cassies best friend. Cassie is also the love of her life unfortunately Cassie's taste runs more to men with brooding eyes and fabulous cheekbones, however this doesn't stop her from sacrificing herself to give Azazeal strength in exchange for cassie in episode one. Luckily this isn't the end of thelma and she returns at the end of the first episode as a ghost! Now that she's dead she can be as mean as she likes about people without anyone knowing (except when Ella arrives) which adds brilliant lines to the show, alos she can eat anything she likes without putting on weight! (see mythology for inconsistancies!)
Teachers
Jo
Jo is the Media studies/English teacher at the school, a hyperchondriac who seems to have no life outside school, she did have a boyfriend but he "turned out to be an asshole" and that leaves her free to stay at school over the xmas holidays (does she have no parents, no friends??) and help Cassie with getting an abortion. Around this point she also meets Azazeal and falls under his spell (who wouldn't) although she thinks he's called Iain. In Season 2 we see her looking distinctly worse for wear as she juggles teaching with looking after Malachi, (I don't think Azazeal would be much help he doesn't really seem very new man). After refusing to go back to him after he dropped her for Cassie we find her left fitting on her bedroom floor and she is given a leave of absense, reducing the staff to almost nothing!
David
David is the head of Medenham and has a soft spot for Cassie. He is also bizzarly well read about Azazeal and the Nephalim and fills in all the gaps at the begining of the story. He genuinely wants to help the children and resigns in protest when he cannot prevent Ella being sent to the mental hospital. He is quickly rehired when Jez is found dead in his own church, supposedly full of guilt at shagging Roxanne and being found out about it.
Jez Heriot
Jez is the school chaplin who takes ethics lesson, when Jo leaves he takes on media and when the head leaves he becomes acting head. He also teaches the children martial arts! At this point he seems to be running the school single handedly. He's also a Nephalim but of the Azazeal type of being a very attractive human male rather than a ugly scaly monster (which questions Ella's statment about how she couldn't be Nephalim). After almost succeding in killing Ella Dee by removing her powers and letting age catch up with her, he in turn is killed by her in the school gym and then strung up in his own church to make it look like suicide. He alos uses Roxanne's desire to shag anything unattainable to get information on Ella and to have a good time at the same point! He is evil, he might aswell have fun while he's doing it!!
